The warning by the maritime search and rescue office in Pattaya has been made due to the strong wind and high wave amid the influence of the tropical Ketsana depression, Thai News Agency reported.
The Typhoon "Ketsana," which weakened Wednesday to the tropical depression, has affected several provinces in Thailand as it started attacking a northeastern province of U-bon Rat-cha-tha-ni from Wednesday morning.
Moreover, the office is well prepared and ready, if it is requested to help rescue tourists, who might probably be stuck on any island.
In a related development, the Thai government approved a budget worth of 18 million baht (537,642 U.S. dollars) to southern resort island Phueket to finance establishment of a maritime search and rescue center.
The center will cover working operations for five provinces locating along the Andaman Sea Coast, including Phuket, Ra-nong, Phang-nga, Kra-bi, and Trang.
The rescue operation center is expected to boost confidence among tourists from all countries around the world.
However, the rescue project will kick off with a focus on the world tourism destination provinces of Phuket, Kra-bi, and Phang- nga.
